Piloting a kart may seem simple, but if you want to master it and get the most out of it
you must follow these tips
Learning the circuit
First of all, learning the track is essential to increase your speed. If you are able to
anticipate the next corner and prepare the turn in advance, you will be able to get the best line
and ride in more competitive times.
Controlling braking
If you want to master a kart, you must know how and when to brake. The how is simple, you must
brake as much as possible in the shortest time you are able, because the less time you have the
kart braking, the less time you lose. However, when to brake is a bit more complicated.
Depending on the state of the tires, the track and the weather conditions,
we will be able to brake earlier or later. This has to be tested in the first few laps. The easiest
is to take a braking reference before each corner and delay it slightly.
The goal is to brake as late as possible and go through the corners fast, but always keeping
control of the car.
Managing emotions
The adrenaline and euphoria felt when driving a kart can play in our favor, but
also against us. Being too aggressive with your driving and with your partners on
track will make you more tired, slower and you won’t enjoy it. Winning is very
good, but it’s even better to get off the kart and hug your friends for that race where
everyone had the best time of the week.
